Happy Thanksgiving!

Image
Good Afternoon, I just wanted to take a moment to wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you have a chance to relax and enjoy this special time with your loved ones, creating cherished memories. I’m so grateful for all the support you’ve shown throughout the year, and I’m looking forward to an exciting and eventful December with the students. It always brings me great joy to watch them grow and thrive, and I can’t wait to see what the next month brings. Week in Review: Leader in Me:  This week, we spent time interviewing a classmate and connecting with each other. These activities helped us build stronger relationships and further develop the positive culture in our classroom. By working together, we continue to create a supportive and collaborative environment. Writing: We started a new writing unit, which is a literary essay writing unit, building on some of their skills from their previous unit, personal and persuasive essay writing. This past week, writers focused ...

What a Week It Was!

Good Afternoon, Conference week is always one of my favorite times of the year. It offers a wonderful opportunity for families to connect and for students to showcase the incredible progress they’ve made. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks for your support throughout this week as students proudly presented their learning. The 4th graders truly shined, beaming with pride as they shared their accomplishments, and I’m excited to see what else they will achieve this school year. Today’s celebration was well-deserved, and I hope you felt the same sense of pride and excitement I did as we all celebrated their growth and enthusiasm for learning. Week in Review: Leader in Me:  This week, we talked about the importance of planning. We have been working on our long term vision and next steps we can take to achieve our dreams. Work together to create a vision board that represents everyone’s goals and dreams. Consider sharing a picture of the finished product with your learner’s teacher. Wr...

Halftime of November

Image
Good Afternoon, What a week it was as all of NDLC put on an amazing concert for our Veteran's. It was a special evening where an entire school community was able to come together, and honor and celebrate people in our lives who are so special. The energy in the school was incredible, and only happens when you have such a great connection between school and families. That's just one of the many reasons that I believe makes NDLC great. Looking forward to that same energy as families get to come in next week, and see their leaders present during conferences! Week in Review: Leader in Me:  We focused on staying true to our personal mission statement and making choices that align with who we want to be. Work together to list all of the celebrations and successes members of your family have achieved so far this year. Plan a celebration for all to enjoy. Some examples include a walk in the neighborhood/local park, watching a favorite show/movie, cooking a new recipe. Writing: Writers ...

Exciting November Off and Running

Good Afternoon, The 4th Graders have been working hard on so many things in the classroom in addition to preparing for their Veteran's Day concert next week, it was a full week of exciting learning and growth. They have been preparing for their upcoming student led conferences, and I am excited for them to showcase themselves to celebrate what they have accomplished so far this school year. With being two full months into the school year the classroom is vibrant with energy, as we look to use that energy to fuel our growth academically and socially every day! Week in Review: Leader in Me:  This week we took time to focus on friendships lessons where we talked about how we meet new people, being open to diverse opinions and differences, and the value of knowing and calling someone by their names. We ended the week interviewing classmates we may not know very well with the goal of trying to interview every one of their classmates this year to get to know everyone better. Writin...

Breathing in that cold November Air

Image
Good Afternoon, As we welcome November, it was a fun filled week that saw some tired 4th graders by the time they were exiting the doors today for the weekend. Coming back from an extended break can be difficult at times, but the 4th graders were resilient as they worked hard every single day. We have lots to celebrate and be proud of in the classroom, and I am excited as we get closer to conferences for all the 4th graders to be able to showcase their learning and growth as leaders here at NDLC. I'm proud of each and everyone of them, and excited to continue to make more strides in the month of November! Week in Review: Leader in Me:  We worked on writing personal mission statements by identifying personal values and things that matter most to us! Invite your learner to teach you how to write your own personal mission statement. Consider sharing it with your learner!  Writing: Writers began the week self assessing to set goals for the essay writing. Then they worked to develo...
