Is it really June?

Good Afternoon,

What an incredible week! Our 4th graders did a phenomenal job during their concert on Thursday evening—a wonderful celebration of all their hard work and dedication. The evening culminating in a special moment when they receive their 4th grade diplomas from NDLC is always an emotional moment. We are all looking forward to a memorable final week of school, filled with fun activities, lasting memories, and plenty of emotions. Buckle up—the end of the school year is approaching quickly!

Week in Review:

Leader in Me: This week we learned about how to use skills of curiosity, analysis, and open-mindedness to think critically and express an opinion about a topic. View the Your Passions video on Leader in Me Online and discuss your learner’s passions and how their passions could be used to impact others!

Writing: This week, our 4th grade writers put the finishing touches on their graphic novels, completing final revisions and edits. They poured an incredible amount of effort and energy into their work and were so excited to share their creations. They should be very proud of their dedication and creativity!

Math: This week, our 4th grade mathematicians extended their understanding of the standard multiplication algorithm, reviewed and evaluated different multiplication strategies, and wrapped up Unit 7 with a review and assessment.

Reading: This week, our 4th grade readers wrapped up their final weekly jots, participated in independent reading marathons, and completed their end-of-year reading assessments. It’s been a wonderful week of reflection, stamina, and celebration of all their growth as readers!

Content: This week, our 4th graders made an IMPACT by sharing what they’ve learned about economic choices and how these decisions play a role in everyday life. Thank you to everyone who was able to attend the event! If you couldn’t make it, no worries—students will be bringing their graphic novels home to continue spreading their knowledge and making an impact at home, too!

  • Thank you to a parent who shared this great resource which can benefit your 4th grader and family! Every fourth grader in the US is eligible to receive a free pass for their family to visit America’s natural wonders and historic sites, which accesses hundreds of parks, lands and waters for an entire year! Visit everykidoutdoors.gov/rules.htm for more information and to get your pass!

A Look Ahead:

  • June 3rd - Mini Courses & Field Day
  • June 4th - 4th Grade Walk to Library & End of Year Picnic 12:30 @ La Follette Park
  • June 4th - Cafe Krueger Celebration
  • June 5th - Last Day of School; Early Dismissal (11:30)

That's all for this week!
