Rounding 3rd on April

Image
Good Afternoon, As we close out another week in 4th grade, I just want to take a moment to say how proud I am of the hard work and growth I’ve seen from the students. It’s been a great week, and I’m excited for what’s coming up as we head into the final week of April. There’s still plenty of learning and growth ahead, and I’m looking forward to seeing how much more we can accomplish together! Week in Review: Leader in Me: This week we focused on I messages as a whole school to equip our leaders with a way to solve everyday conflicts that may come up. It was great to see all the students practice this and use this in the classrooms and their Husky Packs as we add another strategy to their social emotional learning to being great leaders! Writing:  This week in writing, our 4th grade authors kicked off an exciting new unit on graphic novels. We began by exploring what makes graphic novels special to spark enthusiasm for the genre. Students then used doodling to generate a variety of ...

Reset for Final Stretch!

Good Afternoon, I encouraged the 4th graders to take this upcoming mini break as a chance to “sharpen their saw,” and I hope everyone else can do the same. They wrapped up all of their Forward testing today, and I know how long and demanding the process can be. They’ve absolutely earned some time to recharge and do the things they love. I’m incredibly proud of the energy, effort, and focus they brought to their testing. Wishing everyone a safe, happy, and healthy extended weekend with family and friends! Week in Review: Leader in Me:  This week we learned to contrast valuing and accepting differences. We also learned how to use many strengths to solve a problem. Synergize and complete five-in-a-row for Family Bingo Board on Leader in Me Online! Writing:  Writers this week started by doing some final refining on their writing skills for their last ELA Forward testing session, and then ended the week with an on demand writing for narrative. Our final writing unit will begin af...

What a Week!

Good Afternoon, I know the 4th graders weren't the only ones tired today after a busy day yesterday, but I am proud that every single one of them were here today and persevered through! Not sure where to even start when looking back on the week because it was filled to the brim with all sorts of things happening. The 4th graders completed their first 2 sessions of their ELA Forward testing, and did an amazing job. The Madison field trip was hopefully a core memory that was made yesterday. Lastly, today it was nice to just have everyone here and be together because that's what is most special, being able to be all together as a class. I'm thankful for everyone's support, those who chaperones yesterday, and sharing your greatest joys with me allowing myself to be their teacher. It was another great week to be an NDLC Husky. Week in Review: Leader in Me:  This week, we learned ways we can show respect at home and school and about the positive impact of showing respect to o...

Hello April!

Image
Good Afternoon, As we returned from break, and head into April, I was happy with how quickly the 4th graders adjusted back into the routines of the school day. We talked about the urgency we must have these final two months because we still have lots to do with testing, growing as learners as leaders, field trips, end of year activities, etc. but not a lot of time to do it all it can feel like. As a class, we discussed the idea that on that last day of school we can look back on the this time and feel a sense of pride knowing everyday we gave our best effort and attitude to be at our very best. I look forward to finishing these final months of school off strong with this great group of 4th graders! Week in Review: Leader in Me:  This week we learned about listening with our eyes, ears, and heart means listening to truly understand the other person rather than thinking about our response. This is a key concept of Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood. Living this ...
